The list of the top 50 veterinary schools worldwide has just been published for the tenth consecutive year. Fifty of the world’s leading universities in the field of veterinary science—from some 20 countries—are compared and ranked in the QS World University Rankings. In Europe, France has two schools in the top 50: VetAgro Sup in Lyon, ranked 38th as it makes its debut in the rankings, and the École nationale vétérinaire d’Alfort, ranked 43rd after moving up two spots.[2025 Rankings: Click Here] In the 2024 top three of the world’s best veterinary schools, the leading trio remains unchanged: the Royal Veterinary College in London (United Kingdom) retains its No. 1 spot ahead of UC Davis (California) in second place and Cornell University (United States) in third place. The United States continues to lead the rankings of the best veterinary schools, with 16 universities among the top 50. Canada has four veterinary science universities in the global top 50, one more than last year. The United Kingdom remains at the top among English-speaking countries outside North America, with seven universities ranked among the top 50. In Europe, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy each have two veterinary schools ranked in the top 50. The seven other countries represented (Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, and Switzerland) each have one institution ranked among the top 50. In Oceania, the University of Sydney (26th, down 3 places) is the highest-ranked of the four institutions representing Australia. New Zealand, still represented by Massey University, ranks 21st, up 7 places. Brazil, the only Latin American country represented last year, has dropped out of the rankings this year. Finally, two institutions are featured in Asia: the University of Putra Malaysia (40th place), which climbs six spots, and the University of Tokyo (Japan), which drops to 48th place (a fall of 14 spots). Seoul National University (South Korea), ranked 49th last year, has dropped out of the rankings.
